At least 30 people have been killed and more than 80 injured after a suicide bomb attack along a Shia Muslim pilgrimage route in Iraq.
According to the Reuters news agency a female suicide bomber blew herself up at Iskandariya, 40km south of Baghdad, as pilgrims travelled to Karbala for Arbain.
Reuters put the death-toll at 32 and the number of casualties at 85, quoting a local police chief.
Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims travel to Karbala every year to mark Arbain; the end of the mourning period after the anniversary of the seventh century-death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Muhammad.
Yesterday eight people died in a bomb attack in Karbala itself, while 16 were killed in two blasts at a bus terminal in the capital.
