At least 35 people have died and 65 others have suffered injuries after a suicide bomber targeted a Shia procession in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
Shia Muslims around the world are observing the most important religious ceremony of the year, the Ashura, in which they mourn the death of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson in 680 AD.
The explosion took place outside the Imam Moussa al-Kadhim shrine in the Iraqi capital.
Iraqi spokesman for security operations in Baghdad Major General Qassim Atta told the AFP news agency: "A woman wearing an explosive belt blew herself up near one of the gates of the shrine.
"According to our first preliminary report 35 were killed and 65 injured. Most of them were Iranian pilgrims and women and children," he added.
