Chelsea claim vital win

Chelsea reduced the gap between themselves and Manchester United to six points with a hard fought 1-0 win against Manchester City.

Tiger Woods has taken a three-way share of the lead after the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

The world number one lives just ten minutes away from the Orlando course and seemed at home as he returned to the clubhouse six strokes under par in what he described as "the best round of the year" - something of a misnomer given his limited play this season.

Fellow American Vaughn Taylor and England's Paul Casey have joined Woods at the head of the leaderboard after carding 64s as well.

"I thought it was important for me to shoot at least under par on that front nine, and that was all I was concerned about," Woods said afterwards, admitting that he "may have left one or two shots out there".

"But the whole idea is just to keep improving and keep fine-tuning so I have everything together by the first week in April," he added.

Swede Henrik Stenson was widely tipped as the European to challenge Woods after victories in the Dubai Desert Classic and World Match Play Championship earlier this month, but he remains some way off the pace.

Instead it is Spaniard Sergio Garcia and Stenson's compatriot Carl Pettersson on four under who are supporting Casey.

Sean O'Hair and Rocco Mediate are also two shots off the leading trio.
