Huddersfield inflicted a heavy 54-6 defeat away at Wakefield which left the Wildcats coach John Kear fuming.
The home side conceded two tries just before the interval after leading 6-4, and then collapsed after the break as Huddersfield amassed a further seven tries at Belle View.
Winger David Hodgson scored three tries, while Danny Kirmond, Leroay Cudjoe, Kevin Brown, Scott Moore, Paul Whaturia and Jamal Lolesi also went over for the visitors.
Matt Blaymire's converted try was the only positive note for Wakefield in what proved a dire afternoon.
The Wildcats have now lost five games on the bounce and the defeat comes after the club was forced to take disciplinary action against scrum-half Danny Brough and prop Danny Sculthorpe for drinking after last week's defeat against Harlequins.
The pair were banned for seven days and Brough has since apologised for his behaviour, which breached a club ban on alcohol consumption.
However, Kear refused to use the issue as an excuse for his side's poor run of form.
"Conceding 40 points in the second half is just not good enough," he said. "There can't be any excuses. There were 17 full-time professionals out there. It's time for man in the mirror."
Huddersfield are now fourth in the table on the same points as third-placed Leeds and their coach Nathan Brown was delighted with his team.
"To defend the way we did and finish them off in the second half was really pleasing," he said. "One to 17 contributed really well. I don't think there was anyone who didn't come up with something positive."
