Wakefield suffered an 18-42 defeat to St Helens in an emotional night in Super League at Belle Vue.
A minute's silence was held before the game in remembrance of Leon Walker, who died during a reserve game for the Wildcats last Sunday.
The home side went ahead through Steve Snitch's first minute try but the Saints led at the break after James Graham, Gary Wheeler, Matthew Gidley, and Leon Pryce touched down.
Pryce completed his hat-trick in the second-half with Tony Puletua and Ade Gardner sealing the rout, while Aaron Murphy and Ryan Atkins
responded with tries for Wakefield.
Elsewhere, champions Leeds Rhinos crushed Calatan Dragons 42-14 at Headingley.
The Rhinos were led to victory by Ryan Hall (2), Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Kevin Sinfield, Brent Webb, Ashley Gibson, Carl Ablett, and Matthew Diskin crashing over.
Steven Bell, Thomas Bosc, and Vincent Duport scored consolation tries for the French side.
And Huddersfield stunned Wigan with a 22-8 win at the JJB Stadium.
The Giants scored tries through Scott Moore, Michael Lawrence, and Kevin Brown while Brett Hodgson booted over five goals.
Wigan scored a try in each half from Phil Bailey and Amos Roberts.
