Matt Fortune.

Roberto Martinez will be hoping for a sever reversal of form when his Wigan team take on Chelsea at the weekend.

Wigan's victory at Aston Villa on the opening day of the season was perhaps the most surprising result of the entire weekend. But ever since then, Martinez's new life at the DW Stadium has been anything but enjoyable. The Lactics were thoroughly outclassed at Emirates Stadium last weekend and host unbeaten Chelsea this time around.

Their laudable commitment to playing good football is impracticable against such formidable sides and defeat could leave them in the bottom three by Monday. Martinez does have a fully fit squad to chosoe from but on-loan winger Scott Sinclair is ineligible for the fixture against his parent club.

Wigan's woeful record against the Big Four is unrivalled anywhere else in the Premier League having failed to register a single victory in 34 attempts. They haven't managed so much as a point against the Blues.

Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea have barely shifted out of third gear in recording six straight wins. Even last weekend's visit of Tottenham - deemed to be a serious test - offered little resistance to a team hotly tipped for honours.
