Wigan Warriors will be denied of the services of influential prop Iafeta Paleaasina for several weeks through injury.
The New Zealand international picked up a calf injury during the Warriors' 24-12 defeat to Warrington last Friday.
He is expected to be out for around six weeks, which is a major blow to a side that has lost four of its opening five Super League matches.
"It is a big blow to us," admitted coach Ian Millward after seeing one of the few bright spots of the campaign so far ruled out.
"He has been our best take-up forward so far and the fans love him. But these things happen and you have to take them in your stride," he continued.
Meanwhile, Great Britain vice-captain Brian Carney has been fined following an incident at a bar after his debut for Newcastle Knights in Australia.
He scored on a dream debut for the Knights, but was then fined later that night £230 for trying to return to a bar he had been asked to leave.
"Police informed him that re-entering licensed premises after being asked to leave is a breach of licensing laws and fined him," said the club in a statement.
"He apologised to the security staff and police at the time and later called the hotel to express his regret," it continued.
The club will take no further action against the player.
