Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger pointed to Geovanni's penalty miss in the second half as the turning point in his side's 3-0 victory over Hull.
Goals from Denilson, Eduardo and Abou Diaby made the scoreline look comfortable for Arsenal but they struggled to break their opponents down in the first-half.
"We had to fight. It took us some time to get into the game and to find the pace," said Wenger.
"In the first half they played in their half and were well organised and closed us down. We had to respond physically and we had a good response today."
Geovanni missed the chance to equalise in the second half from the penalty spot and Hull were made to pay as Eduardo doubled Arsenal's lead soon after.
Wenger believes the penalty was a key moment in the game with Eduardo scoring so soon afterwards.
"We scored the first goal just before half-time and they had to come out in the second half," he said.
"We didn't look very fresh in the first half. But we got in front in the second half, and if there was a turning it was the penalty they missed.
"The penalty looked really, really harsh but we scored straight away a second goal and had plenty of chances after that."
