Arsene Wenger insists it is unlikely Arsenal will make any new signings in the remainder of the January transfer window.
Throughout the transfer window the Gunners have been linked with a host of targets after Wenger expressed an interest towards the end of last year at signing a new forward.
But he now claims the possibility of new faces coming to the Emirates Stadium is 'unlikely'.
He said: "It is not impossible [to sign a player before the window shuts] but at the moment it is unlikely."
The Gunners boss missed out on signing Fulham defender Chris Smalling, who agreed terms with Manchester United on Wednesday, and Sol Campbell's return to the club remains the only deal to be completed so far.
Wenger was disappointed at not signing Smalling but wishes the youngster all the best for the future: "Manchester United got Smalling in the end.
"I am sorry because we were very close to getting him and we were on the case very early.
"I wish the player well. At the end of the day it is important he has a good career. In both clubs he has a good chance to make a great career. The most important thing is he does that."
Arsenal and Manchester United go head to head in the Premier League this Sunday, with the game likely to have a significant bearing on the title race.
