Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted he is ready to commit his future to the club after claiming an outcome on his contract talks is likely by the end of the week.
Wenger's present deal will expire at the end of this season and the acrimonious departure of boardroom ally David Dein earlier in the year sparked speculation that he may not renew his agreement.
But the former Monaco boss told RMC radio that he felt he had a duty to develop the raft of young players he has brought to north London.
Am I still motivated to go on at Arsenal? Yes absolutely. I am very motivated. With all the young players I signed, I feel a kind of responsibility," he said.
"I am in talks with Arsenal. I cant see any drawback to extend. There will be some news on Thursday or Friday.
The French tactician has guided the Gunners to three Premier League titles during his 11 years tenure at Highbury and the Emirates Stadium and has unfaltering support amongst the club's fans.
Barcelona's capture of club captain and chief goalscorer Thierry Henry over the summer had encouraged some to predict a difficult season for his side, but Wenger is hopeful that the striker's exit may prove a positive.
"We had a nice start to the season. We still have our technical game, and we have a young team, that has got a little more experience," Wenger said.
"We lost the star of our club, Thierry Henry, so it has changed something indeed. But you know may be it has pushed the youngsters to take on more responsibilities."
