Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has revealed he one day hopes to coach England's fast bowlers.

Akram is recognised as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of the game. The left-arm swing bowler took an amazing 414 Test wickets and 502 one-day wickets.

He played a number of years in county cricket for Lancashire in the mid-90s and he says he would like to work in English cricket again.

"I've still got a house in England and although I haven't coached before it's something I definitely want to do whether that's now, in a few months, or maybe in a few years," said Akram.

"In the future I would also be interested in doing some coaching with England's fast bowlers because they have got the potential to improve and I like living in the UK.

"I've got years of experience and I want to give something back," added Akram, who also said he would like to coach Glamorgan.

England have struggled to replace Troy Cooley who was give immense credited for the 2005 Ashes victory. The Australian was seen as playing an instrumental role in the development of the likes of Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, and Simon Jones.

Cooley has now taken up a similar role with the Australian cricket team. England, meanwhile have employed Ottis Gibson after Kevin Shine had a relatively unsuccessful tenure as bowling coach and Allan Donald turned down the job.
