Wales face daunting trips to Russia and Germany in the early part of their qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
However, John Toshack's men will be hoping to start with three points as they will begin with a home against Group Four minnows Azerbaijan on September 6th. They will travel to Russia's Luzhniki Stadium four days later, a venue where England lost in October.
Wales play twice again in mid-October, with a home game against Liechtenstein and the trip to Germany only separated by four days.
The next set of fixtures will be in 2009 with home games against Finland on March 28th and then Germany are the visitors on April 1st. Wales then travel to Azerbaijan on June 6th.
They will face Russia at home on September 9th, before finishing off their qualifying campaign with away matches in Finland and Liechtenstein in October 2009.
"For a country like ours we can qualify if all of our players are fit and on form, and when the big matches come around all of our best players are available," said Toshack.
"With one more win we could have finished third in our Euro group behind Germany and the Czech Republic, which would have been some achievement for us.
"It's going to be tough, but if we can get results against Russia and Finland, then who knows?"
