Aston Villa skipper Martin Laursen will be out for up to a month in order to recover from a knee injury.
The Danish international felt discomfort in his knee during the 1-0 win over West Ham last weekend and as a result missed the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Villa Park yesterday.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill was hoping to have Laursen back for the trip to Hull on Tuesday, but felt it was more important for the defender to rest than to cause further damage to his knee and have surgery.
"He's going to be a few weeks, he's had an injection to try and get the knee settling down," O'Neill said after the draw against Arsenal.
"We thought it might require surgery, but we're feeling it might settle down and he could return more quickly than if he'd had the operation. We're talking about three or four weeks."
Laursen, who has been a major force in his side's rise to third in the Premier League, has had a history of knee problems. He suffered knee problems during his two years at AC Milan and then missed the entire 2005/06 season with Villa due to another knee injury which threatened his career.
