Injured Aston Villa captain Martin Laursen is hoping to be back in action in time for the Premier League clash against Manchester United.
The Dane has been out since January when he aggravated an old knee injury in the win over West Brom and required surgery to correct the problem.
Laursen, who retired from international duty after the injury, said his rehabilitation was going according to plan and has targeted the United game on April 5th to make his return and then help his side in their fight to qualify for the Champions League.
"It is going okay (the rehabilitation process). I am very satisfied. Everything is going as planned," said Laursen. "I have started running and can also kick the ball. Now we will just have to see how the knee reacts, but it's going pretty well.
"It all depends on how the next fortnight feels. I do believe that I will be able to play against United, but it could be that I won't make my return until that game."
Laursen had been a major part of Villa's fantastic season before his injury and the side has struggled as a result in his absence. They have taken only one point from their last three Premier League games and were knocked out of the Uefa Cup.
But Villa will not want to rush their captain from the injury has he has been out of the game for long periods in the past due to the knee injury. He only played only one match for Villa in the 2005-06 season after suffering an injury to the same knee.
