Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic believes teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is a better player than he was last season.
Ronaldo scored 23 goals last season, won the PFA Player of the Year, and came third in the World Player of the Year list, but the Portuguese winger has already hammered in 22 goals this season.
The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday, and the win saw United secure top spot in the Premier League.
"We are very strong with him [in our side]," said Vidic. "Last season was a great season for him, he scored so many goals.
"He was under big pressure to improve again this season and, up to now, he has played great in the games and in training.
"Every game you need to improve at this club. Everybody has sides to their game that they can improve and he has tried to fix his in training."
Ronaldo's blistering start to the season has led to reports claiming that Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to break the world transfer record to take the winger to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Although United chief executive David Gill said the club had no intention to sell him, Ronaldo has admitted in the past that he would one day like to play in Spain. But United fans will hope their star player stays for may years to come.
