Sebastien Vettel claims he will continue fighting for the formula one world championship after winning the Japanese grand prix.
The German driver, who trails championship leader Jenson Button by 16 points with two races remaining, clawed nine points back to the Briton with a well-deserved and dominant victory at Suzuka.
And despite probably needing two more wins to stand a chance of overhauling Button - and his nearest challenger, team-mate Rubens Barichello (14 points behind) - Vettel remains upbeat.
"It's a shame that there's only two races to go, but that's life. We're here to fight," he said.
"Two more races like this and it's looking better. Our task now is pretty straightforward, we have to push ourselves to the maximum and try to win.
"We have a great car, and we are still improving - everyone in the factory is improving so we'll see."
Despite only scraping eighth place in Japan after a disappointing qualifying session and an underwhelming race, Button is confident that the next two races should suit his Brawn GP better than Vettel's Red Bull.
"I only lost one point to Rubens, which is my main priority. Obviously we lost a few points to Sebastian but we were expecting them to be strong here," he explained.
"We go to two circuits now which should suit our car so I'm excited about the end of the season.
"I'm already looking forward to the next race in Brazil."
