Michael Vaughan has vowed to treat his first Test appearance for 18 months as he did his England debut.
The Yorkshire batsman has suffered a string of injuries after guiding Duncan Fletcher's team of 2005 to a famous Ashes win over Australia.
His latest set-back was a broken finger sustained while in action for his county but, having been passed fit to take on the West Indies at Headingley, the 32-year-old captain is confident of settling straight back into the team.
"It does feel like a fresh start and like being at the beginning again, but I am very excited about getting out there and playing," he said.
"What I do have is a lot of fond memories and a lot to draw back on. If I can re-live my net form in the middle, get over that tricky half an hour, like in any innings, I am sure I can get a few runs this week."
Although he will have the comfort of his home ground, Vaughan will be without the talismanic figure of Andrew Flintoff to call on.
The Lancashire all-rounder has been ruled out of the match with a recurrence of an ankle injury.
