Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has revealed he looks likely to miss the busy Christmas Premier League schedule after suffering an ankle injury.
The Dutch international went down under a challenge from Italy goalkeeper Giorgio Chiellini just ten minutes into Saturday's friendly.
Initial speculation had predicted Van Persie could be out for anything from two months to the end of the season.
And although such negative predictions have since been rubbished, the Gunners' top scorer will certainly be out until at least mid-December - possibly until the early part of next year.
"The prognosis is that I will be out for four to six weeks," Van Persie told Dutch TV station NOS.
Confirming the news, Arsenal said in a brief statement that the player would return to London this week for treatment at the club's London Colney training base.
"Van Persie will be out of action for approximately six weeks," the club confirmed.
"We wish Robin a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him playing again soon."
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2009/10 season, top scoring for the team in league games with seven goals so far.
