Edwin van der Sar will sign a one-year contract extension at Manchester United, according to his agent Rob Jansen.
The 38-year-old's contract at United ends at the end of the season, but Jansen revealed his client has agreed to an extension and the news will be formerly announced by the club tomorrow.
"Manchester will make it known officially on Friday," said Jansen. "We have already been in talks about a new contract for a couple of weeks. Now we have reached an agreement. It is for one year. What will happen after that, I don't know."
Van der Sar has been rested by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson over the last couple of weeks with the likes of the younger duo of Tomas Kuszczak and Ben Foster taking the gloves. But the new contract shows van der Sar is still the number one at Old Trafford.
The Dutch international goalkeeper joined United in the summer of 2005 after spending four seasons at Fulham. He has won two league titles with the Red Devils and also made the crucial save from Nicolas Anelka which won the Champions League for United.
Van der Sar has also won a record 130 caps for his country Holland and has played in two World Cups and four European Championships.
