Four US soldiers have been charged with the rape and murder of an Iraqi woman and her family in the town of Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad, in March.
A fifth individual, Steven Green, is currently standing civilian trial in the US for the same offences after leaving the army earlier this year. He denies raping and murdering the woman, aged between 14 and 20, and her three family members.
The authorities have not released the names of the soldiers that have been charged, but they are all from the 101st Airborne Division.
Under US and Baghdad law, its soldiers cannot face trial in Iraq, but a court martial for the four individuals is the likely outcome.
Mr Green faces the death penalty if found guilty by the Louisiana jury.
The Mahmoudiya rape is one of a series of cases currently under investigation involving US soldiers implicated in the murder of Iraqi civilians.
