Midfielders Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher have signed new contracts with Manchester United, the club has announced.
Veteran Scholes, 34, whose current deal was due to expire next summer, has agreed a one-year extension, which ties him to the club until the summer of 2010.
"It's great to sign a new deal," the former England star said.
"Last season was fantastic but you always want to achieve more and with this team we are capable of doing just that."
Scotland international Fletcher, 24, who joined United as a 16-year-old in 2000, has put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half-year contract until the summer of 2012.
"When you play at such a great club with a great team you always want to be a part of that," Fletcher said.
"The spirit here is amazing and I am happy that I can play my part in achieving more success."
Sir Alex Ferguson said of the two players: "Paul is proof that if you look after yourself you can carry on playing and be rewarded at a club of this size.
"He's 34 years old and he's been here since he was 14 and that tells you the desire and the ability he has to stay at the top.
"Darren is in the same vein as Ryan [Giggs], Paul [Scholes] and Wes [Brown] in that he is a long-serving member of the team.
"His consistency and level-headed approach is a great attribute and we are all delighted that they have signed new contracts."
