Champions Manchester United will begin the defence of their Premier League title at home against newly promoted Birmingham City after the fixtures for the new season were announced today.
The opening day also sees last year's runners-up Liverpool begin their campaign with a tricky game away to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
The other headline match sees Everton host Arsenal at Goodison Park, while Chelsea host Hull City in their first game of the season.
Another of the newly promoted sides, Burnley, will play former Championship rivals Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in their opening game, while Wolves, who won the second tier title in 2008/09, will have a home game against West Ham United first up.
Aston Villa play Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers will host big-spending Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers are at home to Sunderland, while Fulham travel to the south coast to face Portsmouth in the other games of the opening day.
The matches will take place over the weekend of August 15th - one week after Manchester United take on Chelsea in the season's traditional curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, at Wembley.
