John Terry has thanked Chelsea's supporters for the reception they gave him at Sunday's London derby against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
The former England captain was speaking publicly for the first time since he was stripped of the armband by Fabio Capello last week.
And he admitted it had been "an emotional day" given the importance of the game in the context of the Premier League as well as his first appearance at home since allegations emerged over an affair with former team-mate Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend.
"How the fans have been with me over the last two weeks has been quite incredible," he told Chelsea TV.
"I didn't expect [the reception] and I would like to thank every single individual fan for the way they treated me."
The allegations against Terry, who is said to have got French lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel pregnant before paying for her abortion, forced Capello to hand the England captaincy to Rio Ferdinand ahead of this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
