Wigan have completed the signing of Newcastle winger Charles N'Zogbia, with defender Ryan Taylor going the other way.
N'Zogbia had a public falling-out with Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear and last weekend vowed never to play for the club again after Kinnear mis-pronounced his name in a television interview.
The 22-year-old had been linked with Aston Villa, Tottenham and Lyon, but Steve Bruce has won the race to sign the former French under-21 international.
"Charles is exactly the type of player we need for the long term building of Wigan Athletic," Bruce told the clubs official website.
"He's lightening fast going forward but can also play at the back and fills the left-sided role we were looking for."
24-year-old Taylor will move to St James Park against whom he scored four times in four games while playing for the Latics.
Wigan also believed to have paid a fee in the region of £6 million for N'Zogbia.
N'Zogbia is the fourth signing Bruce has made in the transfer window with Mido, Hugo Rodallega and Ben Watson all arriving at the JJB in the past few weeks.
Taylor, Wilson Palacios, Emile Heskey, Henri Camara and Kevin Kilbane have all left the club.
