Police have arrested two men after officers exchanged gunfire with suspected dissident Republicans in County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland.
Nobody was hurt during the incident on Saturday evening, which occurred close to the border with the Irish Republic in Garrison.
The arrests come after the partial explosion of a 400lb car bomb outside the Policing Board headquarters in Belfast.
A car was driven through a barrier by two men who were seen escaping as the back of the vehicle caught fire.
Chief Constable Matt Baggott commented: "It does appear to be a device that has partially exploded, around 400lb.
"It is a reckless act not just in doing damage but also the potential loss of life."
A burned out vehicle was later found in the New Lodge area of Belfast - a staunchly Republican district - and officers are investigating whether there was a link with the bombing.
"We have said from day one that the terrorist situation is severe. We have substantial resources being put into investigating and thwarting these attacks," Mr Baggott added.
"This attack is an attack on the well-being of everybody in Northern Ireland, this is not about an attack on policing or the Policing Board, this is an attack on young people and young people's future."
