The London Underground worker who was caught on camera shouting at a passenger has resigned from his job.
Ian Morbin, a customer service assistant for Transport for London (TfL) at Holborn tube station, was caught on camera by a fellow passenger calling a man a "jumped up little git" and a "little girl".
In the video he also appears to mutter after the incident that he would like to "sling him under the train". The incident was condemned by TfL, as well as the mayor of London Boris Johnson, and has resulted in Mr Morbin handing in his resignation and apologising.
A TfL spokesperson told inthenews.co.uk: "Mr Ian Morbin, a customer service assistant at Holborn Tube station, has advised London Underground that he wishes to resign for personal reasons.
"He has informed us he would like to apologise for the incident involving a passenger at Holborn Tube station on Thursday October 15th and hopes that his actions have not detracted from the professional job done by hundreds of London Underground staff every day."
The incident was captured on video by businessman Jonathan McDonald, a commuter at the station at the time of the alleged 'rant'.
Following the publication of the video, Mr Johnson, tweeted: "Appalled by the video. Have asked TfL to investigate urgently. Abuse by passengers or staff is never acceptable."
This morning, TfL added: "We have accepted Mr Morbin's resignation with immediate effect.
"As we made clear from the moment this incident was brought to our attention this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable and does not represent the way our staff go about their jobs helping millions of customers every day."
