A London Underground worker has been caught on camera by a passenger shouting at a man and calling him a "jumped up little git".
On Saturday it was confirmed the member if staff had been suspended while investigations continue into the incident.
Both Transport for London (TfL) and the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, have said they are "appalled" by the footage.
The footage, which was filmed by businessman Jonathan McDonald, shows a Tube worker yelling at an apparently elderly man, calling him a "little girl" and threatening to "sling him under the train".
A TfL spokesperson told inthenews.co.uk: "We are appalled by the scene captured in this video and will investigate thoroughly and urgently what took place and what led to it. We do not tolerate members of the public being abusive to our staff but neither will we tolerate members of our staff abusing members of the public."
And Mr Johnson, tweeted: "Appalled by the video. Have asked TfL to investigate urgently. Abuse by passengers or staff is never acceptable."
Yesterday the mayor announced that prices for TfL would rise well above the rate of inflation next year. Mr McDonald told the BBC he thought the incident was particularly bad coming the day after the mayor increased prices on the London Underground.
He said: "So we have staff threatening to throw passengers under trains and in return, prices going up.
"Are we supposed to tolerate this?"
