The condition of terminally ill Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the Libyan man sentenced to life for the Lockerbie bombing, is said to have 'deteriorated'.
According to reports from the Tripoli Medical Centre where Megrahi, 57, is being treated, the prostate cancer he is suffering from has spread throughout his body.
The convicted bomber was released from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds in August, when he was told he had a three-month life expectancy.
"A scan has shown a worsening of the disease which has spread more than before," said the bulletin from the medical centre.
Megrahi is the only man convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, in Scotland, in 1988, which killed 270 people.
He was controversially released this summer by Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, when his release was met with particular anger from the US relatives of those killed on the plane. The controversy was exacerbated when he returned home to a hero's welcome in Libya.
