Championship strugglers Preston North End caused an upset to put a dent in Stoke City's promotion hopes with a 2-0 win at Deepdale.
Richard Chaplow did the damage, scoring twice in the first half to drag Preston out of the bottom three and bring Championship leaders Stoke back to earth with a bump.
The former Burnley midfielder struck in the 22nd minute when he stabbed the ball home after a knockdown from Youl Mawene.
Chaplow then fired home from 20 yards in the 33rd minute to stun the Potters after a Paul McKenna pass.
In the second half, Chaplow was forced off due to injury and Stoke pushed hard to get back into the game with Ricardo Fuller, Ryan Shawcross and Liam Lawrence all going close.
Preston held firm however and Stoke's misery was compounded when defender Leon Cort was carried off.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Burnley beat Coventry City 2-0 to renew their hopes of a play-off place.
The Lancashire side took the lead in the first half when Chris McCann blasted home from close range following a corner.
The result was put beyond doubt in the second half when Steven Caldwell headed home Robbie Blake's corner with five minutes remaining.
In the night's other result in the second tier, QPR and Barnsley played out a 0-0 draw at Oakwell.
