Ospreys winger Shane Williams will miss his side's Magners League derby against Scarlets this weekend after picking up a shoulder injury.
The IRB's world player of the year reported the problem following the Heineken Cup match against Treviso earlier this month.
But despite being rested last week, with the Ospreys medical team citing the injury as a ''problem affecting one of the rotator cuff tendons in his right shoulder'', he has failed to fully recover and he will not be out of action for a fortnight.
''After being reviewed by a shoulder specialist Shane has had treatment to try and help settle his symptoms in the short term,'' an Ospreys statement confirmed.
''Unfortunately this rules him out of action for the next two weeks.
"But if he responds well to the treatment he should be available for consideration for either the Munster or Perpignan fixture in early January.''
