McLaren have decided to press ahead with their appeal against the deduction of their constructors' points from last weekend's Hungarian grand prix.
The race stewards decided that the team should not be allowed to keep any points they scored from Sunday's race following Fernando Alonso's delaying tactics which cost team-mate Lewis Hamilton his final flying lap during qualifying.
Alonso was demoted five places on the grid but was still allowed to keep the points he earned for finishing fourth.
However, stewards decided the McLaren team would not be allowed to keep any of the points scored by Hamilton or Alonso for the constructors' championship.
Hungarian officials said the actions of the team during qualifying were "prejudicial to the interests of the competition".
An FIA spokesperson told Autosport: "We understand that the international court of appeal [ICA] secretariat has received a confirmation of McLaren's appeal from the UK national sporting authority."
If McLaren succeed in getting the points from the Hungarian race reinstated they would be able to add 15 more points to their tally of 138 thanks to Hamilton's race win and Alonso's fourth place.
The Woking-based outfit currently lead the constructors' championship by 19 points from Ferrari without their potential points from the Hungaroring.
The latest appeal follows a long line of arbitration proceedings involving the team after they were informed yesterday that the ICA will convene on September 13th to make a ruling about the 'spy row' between McLaren and Ferrari.
