Felipe Massa has said he agrees with the decision to postpone changes to the points system in formula one.
The FIA has planned on changing the system so that the drivers' championship was awarded to the driver who won the most races, but was forced to back down after a number of the F1 teams complained.
Ferrari's Masa would have won last year's championship if the new rules had been in place but lost out to Briton's Lewis Hamilton, who ended the season with more points but actually won less races than Masa.
The Brazilian, however, has backed the decision not to implement the proposed changes.
"To assign the title to the driver who wins the most races is not correct," he said. "We've 17 races in the championship. It's not the Olympics 100m sprint."
Despite winning six races last year, one more than Hamilton, Massa added: "I'm really not interested in the fact that with such a system I would have won the title last year. I'm interested in what's right for our sport.
"A driver might win more races, but might be inconsistent in his performance not gaining many points. In this case I think he wouldn't deserve the title."
Massa did say he was in favour of proposals to change the points allocated to the top three drivers, with a 12-9-7 point system instead of the current 10-8-6.
