A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Britain's largest-ever jewellery robbery.
A statement from the Metropolitan police said the man had been arrested on Monday but has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
A total of 43 items were stolen from Graff Jewellers, in Mayfair, London, on August 6th with a retail value of just under £40 million.
This week the police released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in relation to the robbery.
The men are believed to have walked into the jewellers around 16:40 BST having arrived in a taxi. Upon entering the premises, the men threatened staff with handguns.
They then brought a female member of staff out of the store with them as the left and a shot was fired.
However, no-one was injured and the pair made off in a series of vehicles.
Police claim the man arrested on Monday was detained in connection with an incident outside a residential address in Ilford.
Anyone with any information relating to the incident is urged to contact the police on 020 8247 4804, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
