Hereford United shocked Leeds United 1-0 in their FA Cup first-round replay at Elland Road to send the Yorkshire side out of the competition.
The Bulls, who achieved the most famous of FA Cup upsets when a Ronnie Radford strike dispatched Newcastle in 1972, were well worth this surprise win 25 years later.
Lionel Ainsworth nudged the visitors into the lead after just three minutes with a cool finish and there were plenty more chances for his side to extend their advantage.
Theo Robinson missed a series of openings for the League Two outfit, most notably allowing Casper Ankergren to block his shot after he had been put clean through on the goalkeeper.
Dennis Wise's side rarely looked like finding a reply with a header from Tresor Kandol and a snap shot from Jermaine Beckford the only two moments of concern for Wayne Brown at the other end.
Hartlepool now stand between Hereford and a potentially lucrative third round tie.
Elsewhere non-league Forest Green claimed the scalp of League Two Rotherham with an emphatic 3-0 win away from home, while League One leaders Carlisle suffered a surprise 1-0 reverse at Grimsby Town.
