Martin Keown has rejected the chance to team-up again with his former Arsenal team-mate Tony Adams at Portsmouth.
Adams recently took over from Harry Redknapp as manager of Pompey and he was keen to add Keown to his backroom staff. But Keown, who was also linked with a return to Arsenal as a coach, has decided to continue his career as a television pundit.
"I think Martin is feeling that sitting on the sofa at Match of the Day and Football Focus is the way forward," said Adams.
"It might not be right for here and now but in the future who knows. I might persuade him in the summer."
Adams also denied reports that he had approached another of his former Arsenal team-mates Dennis Bergkamp to come in as part of his backroom staff. The Dutch legend is currently working as a coach at his former club Ajax, but Adams said he hasn't spoken to Bergkamp.
Adams, Keown and Bergkamp were part of a golden era in the history of Arsenal football club, with the highlight being the Premier League and FA Cup double in 1998 and 2002.
Adams has however said he isn't only interested in hiring former team-mates of his as part of his coaching staff and said he might look at French coaches as he has a number of French speaking players at the club.
