Lewis Hamilton clocked the fastest time in the practice session for the German Grand Prix on Friday.
The world champion's modified McLaren led the field with a time of one minute 32.149 seconds in the afternoon slot.
In the morning, Red Bull's Mark Webber set the quickest time but could only register the fourth quickest in the afternoon.
In the final session, Webber's teammate Sebastian Vettel recorded the second fastest time, ahead of championship leader Jenson Button.
Button currently holds a 25-point lead over Vettel in the overall standings and is hoping to bounce back from the disappointment of the British grand prix where he surrendered valuable points to his rival.
