Gloucestershire recovered from a nightmare start to beat Glamorgan by six wickets in the Friends Provident Trophy at the Swalec Stadium.

After being put into bat, the Welsh side posted a paltry total of 202-4 in their 50 overs.

In reply the Gladiators slumped to 16-3, before half centuries from Craig Spearman and Chris Taylor saw them home.

The result means Gloucestershire are joint top of the South West Division with Somerset, while Glamorgan slip to third spot.

Glamorgan made a terrible start to their innings with openers Matthew Wood (3) and David Hemp (5) dismissed cheaply.

Mike Powell (17) and Tom Maynard (29) failed to build on solid starts to leave Glamorgan on 70-4.

Jamie Dalrymple hit 29 off 33 balls before he became Mark Hardinges' second victim when he was trapped lbw.

That brought Ben Wright to the crease and he reached 60 off 85 balls before being dismissed by Steve Kirby.

Ex-England bowler Alex Wharf hit 22 to see Glamorgan squeeze past the 200-mark.

In reply Australian Jason Gillespie snapped up the wickets of Alex Gidman (0) and Marcus North (8), while Hamish Marshall was dismissed by David Harrison for seven to leave the hosts in trouble.

But a fourth-wicket stand of 106 put the Gladiators on the brink of victory with Spearman making 66 before being trapped lbw by Dean Cosker. Taylor made an unbeaten 66 of 101 balls to seal victory with 34 balls remaining.
