Veteran Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has indicated that he may consider playing for his hometown club Cardiff City next season.
The 35-year-old was superb in United's 3-0 win over Chelsea yesterday, but is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new deal.
After his performance against Chelsea, it would be surprising if United didn't offer a contract extension to their longest serving player. But if they were not to, then Giggs admitted he was still a Cardiff City fan and refused to rule out playing for the Welsh side.
"I always look at Cardiff City's results because they are my home-town team," he told the South Wales Echo.
"I'd like them to be in the Premiership. I have been asked many times whether I would play for my hometown team, although I don't know what the future holds for me.
"My contract ends in May so we will see. At the moment there have not been any talks on a new deal."
Giggs has had a phenomenal 19-year career at United and holds the all-time record for the most appearances for the club. He has won a remarkable 10 Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two European Cups.
His first team appearances have been limited this season, but showed his class with a man-of-the-match performance against Chelsea after he was a surprise pick in central midfield.
