Andy Farrell played an entire rugby union game for the first time last night after being released by the England squad to feature for Saracens A.
England coach Andy Robinson said yesterday that he thought it better the former GB rugby league captain continue his development by getting some games under his belt.
The 31-year-old's union career has been dominated by injury since switching codes more than 18 months ago, but in last night's match against Gloucester at Kingsholm he lasted the full 80 minutes.
South African scrum-half Neil de Kock also made his debut in last night's game, with Saracens A running out 14-3 winners.
Tries from Tomas de Vedia and Tom Loizides handed the away team the victory, after a man of the match performance from fly-half Alex Goode.
