Police launch murder investigation after West Ealing shooting
The Metropolitan police have named the 24-year-old victim of a fatal shooting in West Ealing, London, on Friday night.
Jason Johnson was found suffering from a gunshot wound in an alleyway off Cavendish Avenue, W13, just before 21:00.
While attending to Mr Johnson, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, the London Ambulance Service alerted the police, who have since launched a murder investigation.
A post-mortem took place this morning at Uxbridge mortuary, which determined Mr Johnson died of a wound to the chest.
DCI Fiona Mallon from Trident, who is leading the investigation, said police are "keeping an open mind as regards a motive" and confirmed that no arrests have been made as yet.
"I urge anyone who witnessed the shooting or anyone who was in the area shortly before or after the shooting to please come forward to police with information," she said.
"Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Cavendish Avenue area at about 20:50 on Friday night?
"Did you see anyone run or drive off at speed from that area shortly before 21:00?"
