Kris Boyd saved Rangers for the second time in a week after scoring an equaliser to earn the Scottish league leaders a replay against Partick Thistle.
Having scored twice against Dundee United in the League Cup final on Sunday, Boyd was on the scoresheet again to level Damon Grey's strike in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup.
An upset had looked to be on the cards when Grey beat Allan McGregor in a one-on-one midway through the second half, but Boyd managed to force home an equaliser just two minutes later to extinguish the cheers of the travelling Thistle supporters.
Having been taken to penalties at the weekend Walter Smith made six changes to the Rangers line-up to add fresh legs to his side.
But despite such precautions Rangers started slowly and McGregor was forced into action when Grey was put through by Mark Roberts.
Rangers eventually played themselves in to the game and created two excellent chances either side of half time.
Carlos Cuellar was denied by Jonathan Tuffey when he met Charlie Adam's corner with a strong header. Then, after the break, Gary Naismith was unlucky to see his header strike the woodwork.
With Rangers still dominating the second half Partick took the lead against the run of play. Grey kept his cool to slot the ball past McGregor having spurned a similar chance in the first half.
However Rangers were not to be denied and managed to get a deserved equaliser moments later as Boyd scrambled the ball home from close range.
The two sides will now face a rematch at Fir Hill in April.
