Two men have gone on trial in India charged with killing British teenager Scarlett Keeling in Goa two years ago.
The 15-year-old's semi-naked body was found on a beach in Anjuna in February 2008.
She had been on holiday with her family at the time of her death. Post-mortem examinations later showed Scarlett had been intoxicated with drugs and drink and may have drowned.
Samson D'Souza, 28, and Placido Carvalho, 36, face charges of culpable homicide, grievous sexual assault and destroying evidence.
The pair are also charged with "assault with criminal force with intent to outrage a woman's modesty and administering drugs with intent to harm".
Police had initially claimed Scarlett died accidentally. However, following a high-profile campaign launched by her mother Fiona MacKeown the case was later re-investigated and the two men eventually charged.
Their trial is expected to continue for many months, with the prosecution claiming it has some 70 witnesses to call during proceedings.
