After securing second place for Toyota at their home race in Japan, Jarno Trulli is confident he can carry his pace through to this weekend's Brazilian grand prix.
Trulli's future with the Cologne-based squad is currently in doubt after comments from team principal John Howett suggested the Italian's days with Toyota are numbered.
However, Howett admitted that Timo Glock's second place in Singapore and Trulli's podium in Japan is enough to guarantee Toyota's future in the sport for another year.
Toyota has good pace at Interlagos last year and Trulli believes that the TF109 will be just as competitive this season.
"This year has flown by so quickly; it's hard to believe we are already at the penultimate race of the year," said Trulli.
"It's always enjoyable to be racing in Brazil, and particularly at Interlagos which is a tough circuit."
Because the track is anti-clockwise, drivers face some unique physical challenges this weekend, however Trulli thinks the main issue will be finding the optimal setup, as teams need to find the right compromise to cope with the fast sections of the track and the more technical corners.
"Toyota has usually been quite strong at Interlagos and I've generally been very quick there too so I'm hopeful that will be the case again this year," said Trulli.
"It was fantastic to be on the podium in the last race, especially in front of all our Japanese supporters, and I hope to be fighting at the front again this weekend.
"Last year I was on the front row in Brazil and I believe this year's car will also be quite well suited to the track so I am optimistic.
"I am determined to end the season as we started it; on a high note."
