The uncapped Jonathan Trott has been named in England's squad for the decisive final Ashes Test at the Oval.
The Warwickshire batsman was part of the squad for the fourth Test defeat at Headingley but looks set to make his England debut against Australia on August 20th.
Ravi Bopara is the man to miss out, with the Essex man dropped from the squad after a poor run of form, amassing only 105 runs in seven innings in the series, including a single and a duck at Headingley.
Ian Bell is expected to move up the order while Andrew Flintoff, who missed the Headingley defeat through injury, should be fit to take his final bow in Test cricket at the Oval.
England captain Andrew Strauss also has the option of selecting two spin bowlers for the crucial final Test, with both Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar named in the 14-man squad.
Head of selectors Geoff Miller revealed he had spoken to both Marcus Trescothick and Mark Ramprakash this week, with both former players linked with an unlikely return this week.
Trescothick, an Ashes winner in 2005, told Miller he would not be coming out of international retirement while 39-year-old Ramprakash missed out on a first cap in seven years as the England selectors look to maintain selection consistency by retaining Trott in the squad.
The England squad to face Australia in the final Ashes Test is:
Andrew Strauss (captain)
Alistair Cook
Ian Bell
Jonathan Trott
Paul Collingwood
Matt Prior
Andrew Flintoff
Stuart Broad
Graeme Swann
Steve Harmison
Graham Onions
James Anderson
Monty Panesar
