Terminal two has now been reopened
A man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act after a suspect package was discovered at the check-in area of Heathrow airport's terminal two.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said that a man had been detained in connection with the package, which has now been confirmed as being non-hazardous.
Police enquiries are continuing, he added.
The package was discovered at the terminal's check-in area at about 13:00 BST, with thousands of people evacuated as a result.
"After investigation by the police, terminal two was reopened at approximately 17:00 BST. While the terminal was closed, arriving passengers were disembarked with their luggage at terminal one," a statement from the airport said.
"Passengers travelling from terminal two should expect some disruption for the rest of the day," the statement added.
