Middlesbrough's Jonathan Woodgate has resisted overtures from two other Premier League clubs to seal a deal to move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old centre-back was reportedly being courted by Newcastle and Arsenal as they looked for January defensive reinforcements, but Spurs landed their man for a fee thought to be around £8 million.
"We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Middlesbrough for the transfer of Jonathan Woodgate," read a statement on Tottenham's official site.
White Hart Lane is the fifth stop in the England international's injury-plagued career after spells with Leeds, Newcastle, Real Madrid and Middlesbrough.
Although he has featured 16 times in the Premier League for the Teessiders this term, Woodgate has totalled just 181 league appearances in over nine years in the game
The defender first impressed current Spurs boss Juande Ramos during his time in charge of Seville in la Liga.
He is the Spaniard's second rearguard recruit during the transfer window after he secured promising full-back Chris Gunter from Cardiff earlier in the month.
Woodgate could be in line to make his debut as soon as Wednesday when his new employers meet Everton at Goodison Park.
