At least 22 people have been killed and several others wounded in three blasts in the Iraqi city of Ramadi, reports say.

It is believed the attacks were a co-ordinated suicide attack involving cars packed with explosives.

The BBC reports a bomb first went off near to the police headquarters, followed by a motorcycle bomb which went off among the crowd who had gathered. The third bomb went off outside a hospital.

The AFP report the first bomb went off while a meeting was in progress at the police headquarters. An AFP journalist in the building said the first bomb went off around 12.30 pm (0930 GMT) about 20 metres (yards) from the building, speeding the arrival of firemen and police.

Ramadi, is capital of Anbar province, which was once a centre of the Sunni insurgency. However, it has been a relatively peaceful area since Sunni fighters joined forces with the US and Iraqi security forces.
