You may have heard that England have a football match on Sunday evening, but while Sven's men were all tucked up in bed last night their other halves were generally up to no good.

A 19-strong crowd of footballers' WAGs (that's wives and girlfriends) really went to town in Baden-Baden, spending £3,000 on champagne at a plush dinner hosted by Sven-Goran Eriksson's partner Nancy dell'Olio before staying out until the early hours of the morning in an all night drinking-session.

With Victoria Beckham conspicuously absent it fell to Wayne Rooney's other half Coleen McLoughlin to take the lead, chanting "Rooney, Rooney!" to the delight of fans at the WAGs' favourite haunt, posh bar Garibaldi.

Steven Gerrard's gal Alex Curran joined in the fun, singing: "There's only one Stevie Gerrard," which led to each of the WAGs' men being given a similar treatment in turn.

"We're not going home," sang the throng, including Elen Rives, Frank Lampard's fiancee, Joe Cole's girl Carly Zucker, Michael Carrick's girlfriend Lisa Roughhead and bizarrely, Gary Neville's dad Neville Neville (we kid you not), who was having the time of his life waving about an inflatable World Cup.

Overall it was an excellent bonding exercise for the girls, although Carly and Lisa seemed to be getting a little too close as the evening finished, sharing a lingering goodnight kiss.

As the WAGs left the bar at 05:00 BST, Coleen composed herself enough to tell reporters what she thought about tomorrow's game.

"I don't know if Wayne will be playing a full game on Sunday. We'll have to wait and see. But we are like everyone on the trip - we want to do all we can to help England win," she said.
