Ska veterans the Specials have been announced as the headliners of the upcoming Shockwave NME awards Big Gig at the Royal Albert Hall.
After winning the Outstanding Contribution prize at the music magazine's annual awards last month, the Too Much Too Young band will top the bill for the Big Gig at the Albert Hall on March 29th, organisers confirmed.
The gig is one of ten exclusive shows at the South Kensington venue to mark the tenth year of Roger Daltrey's annual Teenage Cancer Trust concerts.
The Specials' appearance follows their 30th anniversary return in 2009, which saw the band play 33 sold-out shows across the UK to more than 140,000 fans.
"There are few bands you can truly call revolutionary, but the Specials are certainly one of them", said NME editor Krissi Murison.
"After 30 years of entertaining and inspiring in equal measure, it is an honour to have them both at the NME Awards and headlining the Big Gig."
Tickets for the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig are on sale exclusively through www.nme.com/tickets and are priced at £25 each.
