Argentinean striker Carlos Tevez's protracted transfer from West Ham to Manchester United has edged closer after it has been confirmed that the player will undergo a medical at Old Trafford when he returns from international duty.
Set to play a part in the Copa America final on Sunday, the highly regarded 23-year-old will return to England after the game to undergo tests with the Premiership champions.
Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian tonight released a statement to PA Sport confirming details of the imminent transfer.
"It is our understanding that all parties involved in the transfer are now satisfied the administrative issues will be settled in the next few days," the statement read.
Although Manchester United are already believed to have agreed personal terms with Tevez, the transfer has stalled amid uncertainty over where the mooted £30 million transfer fee will be heading.
While West Ham own Tevez's registration, the rights to the player are owned by Joorabchian - the president of Media Sports Investment which is behind the transfer of Tevez and Javier Mascherano to the Hammers in August 2006.
If the striker's transfer is confirmed, Sir Alex Ferguson will have enhanced a squad already resplendent with an array of new faces, including Portuguese midfielder Nani from Sporting Lisbon and Brazilian Anderson from Porto.
